ThemeForest has just released a child theme for the Genesis WordPress framework called “Ayo Shop”. It supports the WooCommerce shopping cart plugin and has all the bells and whistles you’d expect from an eCommerce theme. It comes with all the features included in the Genesis framework and has additional features like:
- Responsive Layout – Key for anyone looking to retain customers on mobile devices.
- Translation ready – This helps if you have an international site that supports multiple languages. This seems like a more common need amongst our eCommerce clients.
- Unlimited Color Schemes – Easier than going in and hacking the CSS.
- WooCommerce – WooCommerce is quickly becoming the go-to shopping cart plugin for WordPress.
The product detail pages are clean and elegant. Allowing your products to shine through and give your customers what they want, “your product”. There’s room to add rich, SEO-friendly descriptions and also embed videos.
I would recommend the Ayo Shop theme to someone who has a full-time developer on board. I’m not the biggest fan of child themes but with a developer who is familiar with the Geneses framework you should be able to customize to suit your needs.
