Metro Mobile Premium WordPress Theme Review

The Metro Mobile Premium WordPress theme has recently been released on ThemeForest. This is a novelty, considering ThemeForest has been trending more towards fully-responsive layouts as opposed to releasing mobile site templates. I usually scratch my head when mobile templates are released but this one seems to have more “punch”, considering the popularity (among some circles) of the Metro look that Windows 8 has harnessed. When clicking “preview” you’re taken to a screen that gives you the option of previewing the entire site within an iPhone frame.

I then scanned the QR code with my iPad and it immediately took me to the “web app” (which this theme technically is). This theme is truly a delight on the Retina Display iPad. The edges are crisp for each square navigation element and the two image sliders on the homepage give the theme a seamless, modern feel. The custom “back” arrow is also well done, which you would expect because most people would be using this outside of their browsers. Switching from vertical to horizontal orientation is also a pleasant experience. Everything stacks up properly. Another great feature for this app is built-in blogging and gallery features, things you would (obviously) expect from a premium WordPress theme.
The portfolio is also a very useful feature. Images/video can be sorted through and brought to center via lightbox. This would be a great theme for something like a Ski Resort, where you could post weather updates, snow reports etc. in the blog/breaking news section and put videos and pictures in the gallery. Although I usually prefer to work with fully responsive WordPress templates I can see where releasing this theme as an app makes sense. In conclusion, I would highly recommend this template and may use it in the future. Nice work WEBBU.

This is very nice, but how do you get the photos to patinage or display pagination? I tried installing wp-page navi and then see this is already declared, as being resident. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

I would head over to codecanyon.net. There should be a few plugins where you can do “slideshows” that paginate. Most of them support raw HTML content as well.
